Special Birds: Rock Bunting

Rock Bunting Emberiza cia is a locally common bird in dry, scrubby, rocky habitats in the south of the region, particularly the Balkan countries. This great photo of singing male was taken by Mladen Vasilev in Bulgaria.

Birding Tours: Poland 2011

Little Crake Porzana parva is another classic breeding bird of Eastern Europe. Though often hard to observe being a small, unobtrusive dweller of reedbeds, it is actually rather common locally.
